The Day After Christmas
Tis the day after Christmas
And all through the home
A silence has settled
Little toys roam.
The living room is disheveled
Gingerbread houses are frosted
Half-eaten and broken
Mom and dad are exhausted
The children just woken.
Christmas was full of excitement
Screaming
Merriment
Little eyes gleaming.
In a blink,
It's all over.
No more Prancer,
No more Clover.
The day after is for being,
For soaking it in
Looking around and seeing
All the magic you made.
The presents are unwrapped,
The lights still displayed,
Gift bags and paper half scrapped.
Remember him still
The baby that laid
The promise of God's will
There was still more to be paid.
The story wasn't at its end
The day after Christmas.
